Q. How did The Lebanon First Congregational Church get involved with Lydia's House? A. Our Board of Christian Outreach has a goal and a vision to take our mission involvement one step further. We wanted to do more than just give our contributions to offerings such as 'One Great Hour of Sharing' and 'Neighbors In Need.' Our Board of Christian Outreach wanted to provide the opportunity for our church to become personally involved with missions providing that real hands on touch to truly know that we, The First Congregational Church of Lebanon Connecticut, were directly involved in making a difference in the lives of others.
Our Board of Christian Outreach made a commitment to establish a Missionary Relationship through the program available from Global Ministries and Wider Church Ministries of the United Church of Christ. Effective July 1, 2003 our church entered into a missionary relationship with Rev. William and Veronica Kyle who were appointed to serve a four-year term with the United Congregational Church of South Africa (UCCSA), that began on January 1, 2003. We began corresponding immediately with the Kyle's asking specifically how we could become directly involved in supporting their missionary projects. They provided us with the Lydia's House Project proposal and sent us samples of the stoles. The need was to help market these stoles.
Our Missionary Relationship is very special. If your church hasn't already considered establishing a Missionary Relationship, please do. Our missionaries working in other countries need the support of our local churches here in the United States. Life altering projects such as "Lydia's House" will not succeed without our support. * * * If you have a question that was not answered here, please e-mail us at eimese@yahoo.com . |
