Summer 2011
Message from your Church Moderator
Well, it's that time of year again. This will be the last Circuit Rider until September as people start to plan for the summer months (vacations, family trips and outings, you name it). The church also takes a break during this time. The Church Council will have its' last meeting in June and then take a break for a couple of months. Most boards and committees take a break and don't meet during the summer months. But there are a few that continue working to keep our church running as smoothly as it does. Just to name a few; the Trustees - to keep our physical facility in good shape, the Deacons - to be sure we have the proper Sunday service that we expect, and of course, our Pastor - to provide us with the guidance we need as time goes by. Actually our Pastor picks up extra responsibility during this time of the year as she, along with the deacons, provides an extra service on Sunday mornings for those who are looking to get out and about earlier, but still would like to attend a church service on Sunday morning. I often wonder what it would be like if God decided to take a break during the summer months. What would he do for relaxation? Perhaps he would take a long vacation to some exotic place; such a place we could only dream of. What would the world be like during this time? Prayers would have to be put on hold, peoples' emergencies would have to be taken care of by themselves, looking for guidance and strength would have to come from within ourselves. Our lives would most likely be in chaos. The big question is, "Would we survive?" I don't have an answer to this. I don't think we will ever need to answer this because God would not leave us in this situation. God is always available to listen to our problems, help us with our concerns, and give us strength as we live our lives day to day. We all need a break from time to time, but sometimes we just need to work it into our daily lives without affecting others. Take your break this summer, but don't forget to include church in your schedule. Be Active. Join in. Art Wallace Interim Moderator
