Sr. Youth Group Our Teachers

Christian Education Opportunities
at the First Congregational Church of Lebanon

We have a complete Sunday School program for children in preschool through 8th grade.  We also have a dedicated group of teachers who are caring and devoted to our children and youth.  We use the ecumenical curriculum, Seasons of the Spirit, which focuses on the lectionary Bible lessons and looks at new ways to learn and grow.  To learn more about the curriculum, click on   www.spiritseasons.com . We strive for Sunday School classes that are challenging and creative, accepting and nurturing, and prayerful and faithful, so that all of our children might grow in their personal faith and Christian understanding.

Middle School Youth Group - The Holy Action Squad!

This dynamic group is led by Bev York and Pastor Sharon, with members of the congregation helping at specific times.  The purpose of this group is to help our youth grow spiritually through social and mission opportunities.  The group meets once a month from 3:00 to 5:00 on Sunday afternoons. The meetings for the fall are September 24th, October 15th, and November 12th. We encourage youths to bring their friends!

 Family Ministries

Once a month during coffee hour, there will be activities for children, parents and anyone else who would like to participate. On September 17th, the children will make songbooks and we will have a hymn sing.  In October, the Board of Outreach sponsors a Pumpkin Carving. In November there will be a harvest activity and in December there will be an Advent Wreath Making workshop.

 Adult Bible Study

Adult Bible Study classes meet once a week to discuss and learn about Scripture, both in context and how it applies to us today. This fall, we began meeting on Wednesdays to study the Gospel of Luke. The class meets Wednesdays from 9:30 to 10:45 in the Memorial Room, and is led by Pastor Sharon with assistance from Pastor Fred Wright.  All are welcome!

Vacation Bible School

Vacation Bible School is a special time for one week in the summer when the children learn about God through games, crafts, music, and story telling.  The week is thematically based, and takes the children through five scripture verses and lessons.  The week also involves a fund-raising drive for a worthy cause where the children can learn the value in helping others. In summer 2006, children who participated raised $936.02 during Vacation Bible School to send to Heifer International. Heifer will be able to help a lot of families in other countries with this donation.
